August-September; WELCOME!
Welcome to another school year at Carrie Downie. We here on the 4th grade team are very excited to begin a new learning adventure!
We have so much to learn & do, that it is important we get started as soon as possible. Therefore we are jumping in with both feet and starting math, language arts, social studies and centers on August 21.
This month’s language arts theme is “Facing Challenges”. Please make sure your child is studying his/her vocabulary words, as well as the focus skill of the week.
In math, we are realizing that just about EVERYTHING in 4th grade math reverts back to multiplication. Please practice times tables with your child so he/she can become proficient. We will be starting with arrays, factors & multiples this week.
The social studies & science DSTP is October 19,20,22 & 23. We will be splitting our time between review for the DSTP & instruction. Social Studies is the earliest Americans and how people arrived in this country, and science is Structures of Life. We will be growing plants, watching seeds grow, and observing crayfish behavior.
